DESCRIPTION:
Have you ever walked down the street and felt unsafe? Have you wondered if the location you're at has had a lot of crime? Wouldn't it be nice to avoid streets that are known to be high in crime? This prototype was built in the hopes of answering these questions and to keep you safe from crime. This prototype was tested in one round of testing with four users. The tasks were simply to find crime in the location of Duboce Triangle in San Francisco and to access a crime report in the same location. I utilized Silverback for the testing process and made slight changes to the navigation after testing. Users were confused with some of the nonworking links. In the new prototype I added another page to Reports and added new links in the Search and Directions Pages. These pages made the prototype a bit more interactive and also completed the full cycle of my first task. The competitive analysis done analyzed more than five crime applications on the market however non of the applications incorporate a social media function. In analyzing more than 100 surveys user wanted an application that allowed them an easy way to communicate with their neighborhoods regarding crime. Also, more than half of the participants had witnessed or were a victim of a crime and they wanted a feature to tell their story.
